Fokus Kegiatan
Sehubungan dengan tantangan yang dihadapi dan ruang lingkup (domain) ilmu-ilmu tanah di atas, maka HITI memfokuskan kegiatannya ke beberapa hal sebagai berikut:
- Senantiasa mengembangkan ilmu-ilmu tanah yang tercakup dalam ruang lingkup ilmu-ilmu tanah sesuai dengan harkat hubungan tanah dan kehidupan yang semakin penting;
- Melakukan kajian dan penelitian yang mengarahkan pengelolaan tanah dan pertanahannuntuk kemanusiaan, keadilan, kesejahteraan, dan kelestarian lingkungan hidup;
- Merumuskan teknologi tanah dan kelernbagaannya untuk meningkatkan dayaguna tanah dengan tetap mempertimbangkan kelestarian fungsi tanah sebagai pilar sistem pendukung kehidupan;
- Berperan aktif dalam merumuskan kebijakan pembangunan yang berhubungan dengan sumberdaya alam, terutama sumberdaya alam yang berhubungan dengan tanah (land policy), termasuk di dalam penyusunan peraturan perundangannya;
- Berperan aktif dalam membantu para pemangku kepentingan (stakeholders) dalam merumuskan dan menyusun tataruang, penggunaan dan pemanfaatan tanah sesuai dengan kaidah-kaidah ilmu-ilmu tanah;
- Mengembangkan pendidikan, pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas sumberdaya manusia, termasuk peningkatan kepedulian masyarakat akan pentingnya sumberdaya tanah dalam mendukung kelestarian kehidupan;
- Menyelenggarakan kegiatan simposium, seminar, workshop dan koloqium untuk pertukaran (sharing) pengetahuan dan pengalaman dalam pengembangan dan penerapan ilmu-ilmu tanah.
